We need YOU. If you’re 18 or older and interested in serving the youth (6th-12th graders) of st. George Parish - this is the place for you. Read on to see what our adult volunteer teams do, how to get involved, and more!
Who are adult volunteers? Adult Volunteers in Youth Ministry are people, ages 18+, who are interested in serving as leaders, chaperones, supply getters, or helping out in other ways with our youth ministry programs.
Why are adult volunteers important? Our programs, literally, cannot run without the participation of adult volunteers like yourself. We have to have a certain number of adult chaperones at every meeting, every game night, every event we host in order to follow diocesan-mandated Child Protection/Safe Environment rules. But beyond just needing you to fill a requirement - we need you to be examples of what it means to live out your faith in daily life. And honestly? That’s more important.
We are all called to go and make disciples, right? Start here. Start now. We have a place for everyone, every skill level, every commitment level, we need you.
What would I do as an adult volunteer? An excellent question! That’s up to you, actually, and what you want to do. Here are the different areas/teams we need adults for:
High School Bible Study Leaders: Roughly twice a month, our high school youth group splits up to do small group bible studies. We need leaders for these!
You commit to a 3 month (12 week) period at a time, wherein you're asked to be present every-other-week to lead your bible study with your co-leader. Our next bible study set kicks off in September - secure your leadership space this summer to be part of it!
7:15-8:30pm, Mondays, at the St. George Youth House
All content and materials are provided in advance.
High School Guy & Girl Group Chaperones: Wednesday nights are (alternating) for our Guys-only and Girls-only high school groups. We've got great leadership for these two groups but are looking for a couple more 21+ guys and gals who can help rotate in and out as extra support!
Commit to (at least) twice-a-semester presence at either guy or girls group (based on your gender), signup on Signup Genius link provided
Guy Group meets from 7:00-9:00pm, Girl Group meets from 5:30-7:30pm, alternating Wednesday nights at the St. George Youth House
Be a positive presence, willing to follow the lead of the group leaders & provide an encouraging environment for our high school students.
Middle School Chaperones: We are starting an after-school, Middle School Bible Study!
Commit to once-a-month presence at Middle School Bible Study
From 2:45pm-4:00pm at the St. George Youth House
Help collect students from St. George School, walk over to St. George Youth House, & be a positive presence as bible study is led by one of our youth ministers.
Confirmation Small Group Leaders: We are in need of those who want to share their faith and help prepare students for Confirmation! Our Confirmation Small Groups are in pairs (or trios) and walk with a small group of students for their months of preparation.
Commit to being present at 5-6 small group sessions for a semester, according to the schedule provided
Work with your co-leader (or co-leaders) to prepare for sessions, all content provided
Choose fall session OR spring session, whatever works for your schedule
All content and materials, including training, provided!
Or, if none of those fits what you want/feel called to do - reach out to our youth ministers (Catherine & Bob) and let’s figure out what we can do for you, and what you can do for us.
Our Youth Ministries also have an Amazon wishlist and will always accept donations of bottled water, cases of canned soda, CapriSuns, paper plates, paper towels, napkins, etc. Contact Catherine or Bob if you want to drop off a donation of supplies to the youth house and we'll more than happily arrange that.
