Funerals

Planning a Catholic funeral is both a practical and spiritual process rooted in faith, hope and the promise of eternal life.  The Catholic Church offers a rich tradition of prayers, rituals and liturgical rites that honor the dignity of the deceased while providing comfort and support to family and friends.  

This information is designed to guide you through the key elements of Catholic funeral planning, including a Vigil (wake), the Funeral Mass and Rite of Committal.  It also offers helpful information on selecting readings, music and personal touches that remain faithful to Catholic teaching.  

Whether you are making arrangements in advance or planning for a loved one, our goal is to assist you in creating a meaningful and reverent celebration of life, grounded in the hope of the Resurrection. 

To the right you will see 3 documents for your use- 

• Funeral Planning Guide – is to capture basic information and to make assignments for the services.
• Funeral Readings – please choose 1st Reading / 2nd Reading and the Gospel.  Our musician will normally sing the Responsorial Psalm and those choices are on the music selection attachment.
• Funeral Music – you can select 4 hymns (Entrance / Offertory / Communion / Recessional).
